Swiss Start-up Sevensense Acquired by ABB to Revolutionize Factory Robot Navigation

ABB has purchased Sevensense, a Swiss start-up, to advance industrial robot mobility with AI and 3D vision. Sevensense’s technology provides robots with “eyes and brains,” enabling independent movement in factories, significantly improving flexibility. Equipped with six cameras, each robot can transport 2 tons of materials at a speed of 1.5 meters per second. The acquisition aligns with ABB’s strategic focus on the expanding market for autonomous mobile robots, anticipating 20% annual growth.
